Inter-Institutional Agreement Signed to Further Education in Elías Piña Province With the purpose of contributing and strengthening educational, social and economic development in the country, the State-run Economic Food Kitchens signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Technical School, Faith and Joy and the Caribbean Center for Development in support of community solution initiatives in Elias Piña province. “The institution, functioning in the name of PresidentDanilo Medina, guarantees lunches for every student. The main objective is to guarantee that no student goes hungry and that they receive the necessary nutritional elements for their physical and intellectual growth.” The agreement was signed by the general administrator of the Food Kitchens, Ramón Monchy Rodríguez; Father Miguel Seis, representing the school, and provincial Senator Adriano Sánchez Roa, representing the Caribbean Center for Development. The agreement establishes that the Food Kitchens will distribute lunches to 362 students in the 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 schedule, Monday to Friday. They will also provide cooked or cold meals for community groups and organizations that work in programs involved in collective solutions coordinated by the Caribbean Center for Development. Following the installation of a mobile cooking unit as a permanent part of the school building, Monchy Rodríguez expressed satisfaction with the Economic Food Kitchens.”The institution, functioning in the name of PresidentDanilo Medina, guarantees lunches for every student. At same time, the three-pronged agreement establishes that the Caribbean Foundation is committed to paying for the cooked meals that will be given to the students, at a cost of RD$5.00 pesos, for thirty days each month. Meanwhile, Sacred Heart of Jesus School will put its staff, teachers and necessary personnel at the service of the Food Kitchen’s staff so that they can participate in the “Quisqueya Learns With You,” an initiative of President Danilo Medina Sánchez’s government. Both of these institutions share the responsibility to assure that each student fulfills the regulation 60 hours of community work that is required for them to earn an internship position at the Economic Food Kitchens. Senator Sánchez explained that the schools will provide ten students each year to fill these positions. The students will come recommended by their schools to work at the Kitchens where they will receive academic credit for their hard work. These future graduates will also use their experience for the economic and social development of their communities. Gloyvi Medina, representing the students and teachers, thanked the organization for having chosen them and for taking into account the importance of providing healthy food to students. The State-run Economic Food Kitchens is an institution that seeks to guarantee quality nutrition for the population while strengthening its social commitments to the development of communities through the implementation of aid programs and inter-institutional agreements.
