Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster Celebrates first Urban Tourism Congress

With the objective of creating a platform for dialogue between local stakeholders about the opportunities that urban tourism offers as a strategy for development, the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster (CTSD) with the support of the Dominican Consortium for Touristic Competiveness (CDCT) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), celebrated the first Urban Tourism Congress in the Americas Hall of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

In much the same way the CTSD presented content that will help articulate a common vision for the local stakeholders in the local tourism system.

During the opening act words of welcome were given by Freddy Ginebra, general coordinator of CTSD, and Alexandría Penehal, Director of the USAID mission.

As part of the program, various topics were discussed with which the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster intends to provide a base for the work and planning around the opportunities that cities constitute for the development of tourism.

In much the same way the CTSD presented content that will help articulate a common vision for the local stakeholders in the local tourism system.

Among the lectures given were: Urban Tourism as a Strategy for Local Development, Relational and Social Capital in Tourism Management, Impact of the Program on Tourism Promotion – the Colonial City of Santo Domingo in the development of the Greater Santo Domingo, New marketing Tendencies in the Tourism Sector, Experiential Marketing, Tourism with Happiness, A Good Business for Everyone, the Mobile Revolution, the Blank Book of Social Trips, the National Districts Strategic Tourism Plan, Urban Destiny: Touristic Offer plus Complementary Offer.

With this congress the CTSD intends to create a channel for frequent communication to allow the city to align its visions and arrangements in agreement with the demands of the times.
