The President of the Dominican Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises (CODOPYME – Federación Dominicana de Pequeña y Mediana Empresa), Yuri Chez, praised the transparency and the participation of this business sector in the bidding process that took place during an emergency meeting that was held on Monday by the State Budget Dining Room for the acquisition of dozens of edible products.

In his intervention during the process, in which some 39 companies submitted their proposals to the Bidding Committee of the organization that encompasses the small and medium enterprises, the president of CODOPYME highlighted the interest of the Administrator of the Budget Dining Rooms, Mr. Monchy Ramón Rodríguez, for the procurement processes of the organization to be transparent.

In this regard, he urged businesses, as well as micro, small and medium businessmen who want to sell, to come and participate in these bidding processes and also to become part of this industry as government suppliers.

“We have to point out that this is not the first time we participate as observers in the biddings for the Budget Dining Rooms, given that their administrator wishes to see that the process is transparent and has invited us to certify such transparency,” said Yuri Chez, who confirmed that many of the companies involved in the process are part of the SME sector.

The businessman also said that in past biddings in which he has participated as an observer he has been able to assert that they have been conducted with a lot of transparency, and “we hope that this one is carried out with the same level of transparency that the others have had.”
He stated that it is vital that these bidding processes take place and urged other departments and ministries to do the same so that the SME sector also feels pleased that things are being done the right way.

The call for this bidding was urgent because the Budget Dining Rooms require more products to address the situation of calamity by flooding that was caused by the rains of the latest storm, Chantal.

Among the products that were being procured in the process that took place at the headquarters of the institution on Monday, were: rice, sugar, cream, tomato sauce, red beans, sardines, cocoa, oatmeal, vinegar, soy sauce, liquid seasoning, vegetables, eggs, potatoes, and sour oranges, among others.
