CONEP and EDUCA Sign Agreement to Promote Dominican Education on all Levels The National Council for Private Enterprise (CONEP in Spanish) and EDUCA Business Action for Education, signed a cooperation agreement recently to contribute to improving the quality of education in the Dominican Republic, on all levels. … CONEP and EDUCA are proposing to define and confirm the business agenda in terms of quality education and to jointly coordinate the institutional representation and tasks that fall to the private sector in its relationship with the National Council for Education and Higher Education, Science and Technology. The alliance between EDUCA and CONEP also includes the development of joint research projectsthat will benefit education, such as identifying potential opportunities in which both institutions can contribute with similar initiatives. “This initiative, reaffirms CONEP’s commitment to EDUCA to improve the productivity, competitiveness and sustainability of our efforts through direct actions oriented at raising the quality of education,” added Elena Viyella de Paliza, president of EDUCA. “The agreement also reinforces CONEP’s commitment to promote Dominican education while contributing to the economic and social development of the nation,” said Rafael Paz Familia, executive vice president of CONEP. 50th Anniversary of CONEP This year, 2013, CONEP celebrates 50 years of work in strengthening the private sector of the Dominican Republic. In honor or this very important achievement, the CONEP family has organized a variety of activities for 2013 and 2014. The calendar of activities includes a thanksgiving Mass; various agreements focused on the development of social corporate responsibility; expert-led panels on economic topics; the launch of a CONEP magazine; the annual Grand Gala and a book memorializing the institution’s work of these past fifty years, including the sense of equilibrium it has represented to the private sector. CONEP’s fifty-year celebration will also represent and underscore these years as an era of achievements, learning and history that will be transmitted and celebrated for this entire period.
