Louis Fignole told Minister Hernández that, with support from ILO, they are currently working on the modification of the Haitian Labor Code, which is the reason why that agency suggested that they hold a meeting with authorities from the Ministry of Labor of the neighboring country.

In that sense, Hernández indicated “Here in the country we have devoted every effort to improving the working conditions of our workers, who ultimately are the backbone of the economy.”

Hernández noted that the Dominican Republic has made ??great strides in the labor field, and cited as an example the reduction of child labor, the recognition of the value of work, and the non-discrimination in the labor field, achievements that have been endorsed by the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The delegation was accompanied by Rafael-Pepe-Abreu, President of the National Council of Trade Union Unity. The delegation was headed by Saint Cyr Louis Fignole, General Secretary of the Autonomous Central of Haitian Workers (CATH), who thanked the official for her hospitality and guidance.
