Ministry of Labor Fixes Minimum Wage for Piece Work Plumbers in Construction Sector The Ministry of Labor, through the National Wages Committee, revised Resolution No.4/2011 and established a new national minimum wage for piece-work plumbers in the construction sector. The Resolution establishes new rates to regulate piece work plumbing jobs, such as general assembly, assembly of water heaters, drainage maintenance, cistern installation, potable water tubing, copper tubing, and among others. Sustained on the authority conferred by Articles No. 452 to 464 of the Labor Code and by Internal Regulation No. 512 of December 10th 1997, the National Wages Committee fixed the new minimum wage giving a 15% increase for each level established by the Committee. A copy of the new Resolution No.6-2013 must be permanently placed in a visible location in any establishment where such work is being done. The Resolution establishes new rates to regulate piece work plumbing jobs, such as general assembly, assembly of water heaters, drainage maintenance, cistern installation, potable water tubing, copper tubing, and among others. The Resolution also states that if a wage is greater than that established by the regulation, it will remain the same in accordance with Article No.217 of the Labor Code, without it increasing from an agreement between the employer and the worker. The National Federation of Construction Industry Workers (FENTICOMMC) and the National Plumbers Syndicate, Santo Domingo proposed the dates of April 22nd and May 30th, 2013 to the National Wages Committee. |
