First International Football Tournament to be Held in Playa Dorada

The Playa Dorada Tourism Complex will be the venue for the first International Football Tournament 2013 to be held on December 6, 7 and 8 in which eight teams – four national (Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Jarabacoa) and four international (Argentina, Germany, Italy and Colombia) will face off at the Hotel Blue Jack Tar in Playa Dorada, in an unprecedented event to celebrate the first international football tournament in the country.

The objective of the Playa Dorada International Football Tournament 2013 is to motivate, promote and to institutionalize beach football on our island and, at the same time, promote local and international tourism along the North Coast, projecting high levels of growth in that area in the coming years.

This event has the support of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic and the backing of the Football Association of Puerto Plata.

This event is directed at a national and international audience of sports and football lovers. Children, teens and adults, maintaining a family environment where people of all ages can enjoy themselves and share their passion for this sport.

The program is as follows:

Friday December 6:
Teams arrive between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m.
At 6:00 p.m, opening ceremony and registration of competitors. Formal presentation of Judges, staff, rules and competition format.

Saturday December 7:
Beginning of classifying rounds at the following hours:
9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m.
Closure of the classifying level at: 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. All games will be played on the fields simultaneously.

Sunday December 8:
9:00 a.m. Beginning of semi-final rounds (simultaneously on fields 1 and 2).
10:30 a.m. Final found – 3rd, 4th place.
11:30 a.m. Final 1st and 2nd place
1:00 p.m. Close of tournament with the awards ceremony and prizes.

Cash prizes totaling $220,000 Dominican pesos will be given to the winning teams.
