The Ministry of Culture Will Celebrate the “Day of National Heritage”
Santo Domingo, December 9, 2013

The Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate of National Monumental Heritage, on Tuesday, December 10th, will celebrate the “Day of National Heritage” that was declared by UNESCO in June of 2005.

A series of activities have been planned for Dominicans to celebrate such an important date, which will begin with the raising of the flag at Plaza España, at 8:00 am.
One hour later, the bells of the churches in the Colonial City will ring and the artistic groups, together with the theatrical quality of our actors and actresses, will spread the joy of the National Heritage party.

Architect Edda Grullón, Director of Monumental Heritage, will offer the opening remarks. Then the attendees will enjoy the art and culture of the country, with performances on this occasion by the Ballet Folklórico de Bellas Artes, the music bands of the military corps, and the hot sounds of a “perico ripiao”.

These activities, which have been created for the enjoyment of the entire family, seek to raise awareness about the importance of conserving and protecting the country’s heritage.
