Fourth Mini Book Fair The Mini Book Fair at the Ágora Mall has become one of the most important cultural events in the city of Santo Domingo. It represents a dialogue between the book and the reader. Therefore, the Dominican family enjoyed this 4th edition of the book fair during an event that took place in a large room located on the outdoors terrace of El Jardín, on the 4th level of the Plaza, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Mini Book Fair was attended by Ambassadors, writers, government officials, literature prize winner Tony Raful, and other distinguished personalities who love culture and reading, and who took advantage of the book deals being offered by the national book industry, as well as books published by local editors, foreign editors, and alternative publishing houses, and governmental and non-governmental institutions. Parents attended the event together with their children and grandchildren. This Mini Book Fair brings a new energy to cultural management, and a rich human profile, since it disseminates books as an art, and reading as the endless fiber linking together knowledge with the pleasure of sharing through writing, through the words and through thousands of written pages, so that visitors, both adults and children, enjoy a decent, gentle and quiet space in which books occupy the center stage. The Mini Book Fair started in July of 2013, under the coordination of cultural manager and art editor Veronica Sención, who is the cultural advisor to this important shopping center. Mrs. Silvia Rosales, Manager of the Ágora Mall, put a great deal of effort into helping with this project. The work of promoting and disseminating the event was the responsibility of Kenya Bisonó, Marketing Manager, and the set-up coordination was the responsibility of Ivonne González, Event Coordinator. Senior gender writer and researcher, Ylonka Nacidit-Perdomo, Coordinator of the Women Authors’ Table, was also responsible for coordinating the publication of the Dominican books and for promoting the authors. She attended the event and signed her latest book “Dentro del Bosque” (Soliloquies) at the Mini Book Fair. The following bookstores participated in this Fourth Mini Book Fair at the Ágora Mall (FIL- AM): La Trinitaria, Luna, Mateca, Horizontes y Alas; the publishing houses of the Ministry of Culture, the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications, Alfaguara, Ediciones Arcoíris Cultural, Letra Gráfica, Santuario, Franklin Franco, Bibliophiles, The Pellerano & Herrera Foundation, EDUCARTE, and the Juan Bosch Foundation; book distributors Top Editions de Clara Silvestre and ASODOLIBRO also participated in the event. The following persons were especially invited as representatives of alternative publishing houses: journalist and writer José Rafael Sosa, who participated with an Origami display, and editor and ink supervisor Alicia Delgado Mestre with a display of Rare Books.
