Four years of live Jazz in the city!!!

On December 22nd, 2009 the Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino, in partnership with Jazz en Dominicana, created a new concept, the Fiesta Sunset Jazz. The opening of this new space dedicated to Jazz took place in the Executive Floor of the Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino, with a concert by French-Dominican singer Cyrille-Aimée and renowned jazz pianist Gustavo Rodríguez, thus initiating what would become the preferred place for jazz lovers in the city.

February 7th, 2014 will mark the start of the fifth season of the only space in the city that has showcased uninterrupted live Jazz. In it, 198 concerts have taken place in those 4 years, and, at the same time, it has responded to the demand to provide a Good Living environment in the metropolitan area in a space that offers total comfort, high quality and service, ample parking and security, and, most importantly, personalized attention ALWAYS!!! We already are a large family who gathers every Friday in the cozy lounge with exquisite views and an excellent music selection.

Each week a selection of the best jazz groups of our country, as well as international guest groups, provide rest and relaxation to busy lifestyles so that those attending can leave everything behind, and hence its slogan: Where Fine Living Meets Jazz; Leave it all behind!!!

Throughout these first four years the public has enjoyed all kinds of Jazz, Blues, Bossa, and their spin-offs. There have been enriching moments of instrumental and vocal jazz presentations by more than 200 musicians and vocalists from all over our country, and also included guest artists from Mexico, Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada, Denmark, Brazil, Spain, France, Italy, Uruguay, Argentina, and the United States – among them, several winners and nominees to the American and Latino Grammy’s. During these events the public has been able to witness original programming of high level music, as well as the debut of 14 groups and more than 20 themed concerts.

Our regular customers attest to the commitment of Fiesta Sunset Jazz to introduce and promote Jazz in the Dominican Republic; as well as to be an important channel of support for culture in the country.

Friday, February 7th: France, Dominican Republic & Haiti – United by Jazz

The opening of the fifth season of the Fiesta Sunset Jazz will be a big events, featuring three musicians of three different countries and 1 common denominator: Jazz!!! Renowned guitarist Alex Jacquemin, from France, who appeared in an excellent Fiesta Sunset Jazz concert in July 2013; beloved Haitian drummer Johnbern Thomas, who has had successful presentations several times in our country; and from Santiago, brilliant pianist/keyboardist Rafelito Mirabal. The main components of the night will be: Improvisation, Experience, Magic, Communication, Heart, and Spontaneity. Conocidos Estandares del Jazz will be showcased with their special touch for a colorful carnival night of high octane, fusions, improvisations, rich rhythms, and more.
