Dominicanaonline.org was present at the III Carnival Craft Fair 2014

The III Carnival Craft Fair 2014 was held from February 21st to February 23rd, 2014 in Parque Colón of the Colonial Zone in the National District.

The music band of the Dominican Air Force, the Baton Ballet (of the BlasCamera), and other musical groups, performed at the start of the event.

The opening remarks were delivered by Mrs. Sujey Peña, Coordinator of the Fair, together with Luisa Castillo, Crafts Director, and Carmen Pimentel Adames, representative of the Ministry of Culture. Mrs. Peña thanked the craftsmen from the National District and the provinces of Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, Santiago and Barahona, for their participation and for exhibiting their crafts in the various tents, where they had the opportunity to sell their artistic creations.

She invited the communities neighboring the Colonial Zone to enjoy the artistic presentations and the great attractions that were available during the three days of the fair, as well as the good prices that were being offered on all products, which reflect the diversity of craftsmanship of the Dominican people.

The artistic offerings in the course of the three days of the fair included workshops of clay modeling, masks design, and puppet making for those interested in learning about Dominican art.

During these intense three days of activities, Dominicanaonline.org was present, talking with craftsmen, officials and the general public, sharing information on the web portal and on our interest in disseminating and promoting Dominican culture.

This crafts exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture, through its Office of Management and Carnival. It took place prior to the Grand National Carnival Parade that will be held on March 2nd.

The fair was sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, the National Police, the National Council on Disability (CONADIS), the Fire Department of Santo Domingo, the Tourist Police and the Dominican Air Force.
