The Book Fair Pre-opening events, which include a program of conferences and lectures, have been taking place for several weeks. Last week, the Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez, led a meeting to coordinate the setup of the FILRD14 and the participation of state institutions in the Fair.

In the context of the event organization, officers have held meetings with representatives of Panama, from where a large delegation of artists, writers and intellectuals is arriving because of the special participation of this brotherly country.

FILRD2014 is organized by the Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate for Book Fair, and will be staged at Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, located in the downtown area of the Dominican capital. This year, the big event will be dedicated to renowned Dominican writer Domingo Moreno Jimenes. The event will have Panama as the guest country of honor. FILRD is considered one of the most important fairs of its kind in the Caribbean, and one of the leading fairs in Latin America.
