MINERD’s School of Directors releases scientific magazine on educational management The School of Directors for Educational Quality (EDCE – Escuela de Directores para la Calidad Educativa) of the Ministry of Education (MINERD) released the first issue of the Educational Management magazine in the pavilion of the XVII International Book Fair of Santo Domingo 2014. The Deputy Minister of Education and Director of the EDCE, Doctor Adarberto Martínez, led the event accompanied by the Director of the Dominican Institute of Evaluation and Research Quality (IDEICE), Mr. Julio Leonardo Valeirón, and Dr. Daniel Morales, a researcher of the Research Center for Leadership and Educational Management at the Barna Business School. Martínez said that Educational Management is the concrete expression of the principles and commitment of the Academy he heads. “This is the reason why we created this magazine, to have one issue per year, because we want it to be a reference publication in its field in Latin America and beyond”. Meanwhile, Julio Valeirón, school advisor, said: “Educational Management, as the legitimate offspring of EDCE, paves the way for scientific production; therefore, this first issue is an important contribution to the scientific heritage of our country, and a good opportunity for other researchers to nurture themselves by asking new questions and offering new hypotheses, and steering possible future scientific activities in the field of education.” Valeirón said that scientific magazines create communities of researchers that offer real opportunities for the cultural and social development of research, and compel to continuous efforts of publication. Educational Management The Director of the IDEICE said that the contents of the Educational Management magazine include Effective Schools in the Dominican Republic, the Perceived Performance of Education and the Demand for Schooling, Performance Standards for Teachers and School Principals, and the System of Monitoring and Supervision (SAS – Sistema de Acompañamiento y Supervisión), among other issues. The Advisor of the School of Directors argued that scientific magazines are the primary means of dissemination to publicize the progress of research in certain areas, as they reflect the research conducted by an entity or by a country. |
