Exhibit by Plastic Artist Jorge Pineda presented in France Renowned Dominican artist Jorge Pineda will present his exhibit “Mambrú” at the Miró Hall of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in France, with the support of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism. Pineda and the Dominican Republic have been distinguished with an invitation as honored guests of the European Night of the Museums at UNESCO. Mambrú, which will be on display on May 17th, is composed of nine life-size sculptures of children, carved in wood and lined with metal: pieces representing the violence that society exerts on children, forcing them to take a position in a world of adults, losing their innocence in a compulsory way. Pineda demonstrates its creativity in the collection “El bosque: Mentiras” (The forest: Lies), “Las niñas rojas” (The red girls), “Las niñas locas” (The crazy girls), and “Mambrú”, which are part of the exhibit.
Jorge Pineda was born in Barahona and is part of the most important contemporary artists of his generation. His extensive career has earned him international recognition and has allowed him to exhibit his works at prestigious locations.
