The Ministry of Culture, through the Vice Ministry of Cultural Heritage, will hold on Saturday, June 21st “The Long Night of the Museums Summer Edition”, a family event created to bring Dominicans and foreigners to the various historic districts of the city of Santo Domingo and for them to participate in artistic and cultural activities. This is the second installment of the Long Night of the Museums of four to be held this year, coinciding with the start of each season. They are part of the activities of the Ministry of Culture aimed at facilitating access of the Dominican family to enjoy the historical and national cultural heritage. From 9:00 am to 12 midnight, the Colonial City museums will remain open to give visitors tours of their historic collections, shows, workshops and exhibition of live statues, among other proposals, in order to offer fun for children, youth and adults as they learn about our tangible and intangible heritage. The participating museums will be the Columbus Alcázar, Casas Reales, Casa de Tostado, the Fort of Santo Domingo, the Center of the Image, the Telecommunications Cultural Center, Trampoline Museum, Casa de Teatro, Banreservas Cultural Center, and Cultural Center of Spain, among others. During the traditional event, which is organized by the Ministry of Culture, visitors will enjoy the show “Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the Museum of the Dominican Family”, the “Merengue, salsa and bachata concert”, by Francis Fajardo and his orchestra, at the Museum of Casas Reales; dancing music with the musical group “Secuencia Latina By Leo Suberví”, also at the Museum of Casas Reales; “Dominican Boleros”, with saxophonist Sandy Gabriel, at the Columbus Alcázar, and other events. “Music and dance are like a marriage that, even though they never stay together, when combined, they leave something unforgettable in the soul. Dancing is culture in motion, music is emotion, it is the art which expresses the human spirit with the harmony of its notes, which reveals its place in history, and the troubled experiences of their lives”, said Ana María Conde, Director General of the Museums. She said that summer is characterized by its long days and short nights, but the night of June 21st will be long, full of culture, fun, joy, and sharing. The opening will be held at 6:30 pm, at the Fort of Santo Domingo, and will be led by the Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
