The film “En mediodel Dolor” receives award at the International Film Festival of New York City

New York-(Z@D). With the participation of twenty seven countries, the International Film Festival of New York Citywas recently successfully completed. The Dominican film industry was represented at the festival by the film “En Medio del Dolor” (In the Midst of Pain),which won several awards

The premiere of the film at the festivaltook place in front of a full house. “En Medio del Dolor” was supported by many sectors of the Dominican diaspora in New York City.

The film received 4 nominations, and won in several categories: best original screenplay, second place in best original drama, second place in best Hispanic film, and second place in best individual actor.

“En Medio del Dolor” was the only Dominican film participating in the prestigious festival, which is directed by its founder filmmaker Roberto Rizzo, who said the following:

“It is a special day for this film festival to be able to screen this great Dominican film, “En Medio del Dolor”. Our mission is to help new talent from around the world. We want to give them the opportunity to show theirwork in a city such as New York.”

This great film was produced by Youssel Abreu, directed by Luis Corporan, and starring Carlos Quezada. The Executive Director and Script Writer was Rafael Jorge.

“En Medio del Dolor” discusses the social realities in the slums of our countries, and this harsh reality is reflected in a poor neighborhood of the Dominican Republic, where the plot unfolds.

Rafael Jorge, Executive Producer and owner of the film said: “Well, it is an achievement, because we had this project for a long time and, thank God, it has finally made it. It is something that it has been a source of inspiration for me for a long time. We hope to screen it soon in the Dominican Republic.”

Luis Corporan, Director of the film said: “It is a pretty pleasant feeling. It is a step up in my career as a film director and as a filmmaker and I feel very proud of it, because it is a project that we have carriedin our veins and we have done it with all of our hearts, and I am grateful for the opportunity that Mr. Rafael Jorge has given me to direct his project.”

“Thank you also to all the people who have supported us in this project, from the outside and from the inside, and I feel good giving thanks to God.”

Carlos Quezada, star of “En Medio del Dolor” said the following: “The film is part of the Film Festival of New York City, and that means a lot professionally. This time, I had the leading role in the acting part of the project, and I liked it.”

“It was quite interesting and I think that the Dominican people and people from many other countries mayfeel attracted to it, because it is an outlook on life that some may not know at all, that is, violence in general, and the everyday problems.”
