Dominican film La Montaña is presented before an enthusiastic audience at PLAFF 2014 The Dominican films that have been selected to represent the country at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) and at the Spanish Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts (Goya) Awards were announced during a press conference that took place at the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE). They will compete in the “Best Foreign Film” category at the 87th Oscar Awards, and in the “Best Ibero-American Film” category at the 29th Goya Awards. The film that was selected for the Oscar Awards was “Cristo Rey”, the second feature film by Director Leticia Tonos. Sergio Gobbi is the film producer and James Santil and Akari Endo are the stars of the film. “Código Paz” was selected to compete for the Dominican Republic at the Goya Awards. This film is the debut feature film of Director Pedro Urrutia. One Alliance is the producer of the film, and David Maler, Paula Ferry, Hector Anibal, Nashla Bogaert, José Guillermo Cortines and Isaac Saviñon are the stars. Yvette Marichal, Director of the General Directorate of Cinema, made the announcement at the meeting that was held at the DGCINE headquarters. The Dominican Film Selection Committee selected the participating movies. Among those present were actors, producers, personalities from the film industry, and the press. |
