Dominican Republic Will Host The 2008 International Tourism Berlin Fair
The Dominican Republic will be the host country for the 43rd 2008 International Tourism Berlin Fair (ITB) which will take place from March 4-11 in the German capital with the participation of 170 countries. Secretary of Tourism Félix Jiménez said this tourism fair constitutes one of the major sources of tourism promotion in the world and that it will mean a flow of tourists to the country, not just from Germany but from all over the world.
Among the participants of the ITB will be some 3,000 executives and owners of tourism service provider companies as well as around 5,000 journalists – not just travel writers, according to the Secretary of Tourism as quoted in the daily newspaper Hoy.
The government, through the Secretary of Tourism, has designated some € 2 million Euros to cover expenses expected to be accrued as the host country of the tourism fair; this amount includes promotional ads to be run on all major TV channels in Germany.
