New Edition of Handcrafted Accessories Festival: ComplementARTE 2015 Will Be Carried Out

The Children and Youth Library of the Dominican Republic (BIJRD) is currently showing the winning and the runners-up art pieces from this year’s second edition of the Literary Bottles National Competition 2015, at its Doctora Margarita Cedeño de Fernández exhibition hall. The purpose of this competition is to promote reading and good environmental practices.

Unlike in previous years, this time not only designers of accessories and clothing accessories will be part of the festival, but attendees will be able to find paintings, handcrafted pieces and other handmade items, so that visitors can find the perfect gift for mom.

María Alejandra Lama and Carmen Ortega will be in charge of the general production. They have stated that: “For six years we have inspired the interest of young talented Dominicans and of youth from other cultures to exhibit their designs, by creating a space that allows participants to showcase their innovative proposals. The event is held every year during the month of May, as it is dedicated to all the mothers of our country.”

Part of the funds collected at ComplementARTE will be donated to the St. Jude Foundation, an institution that works to benefit children with cancer. Other items that will be available for purchase are calendars, bags, t-shirts and other promotional items to help the foundation.

Those attending the festival will also find other attractions, such as DJs performances, raffles, toasts by our sponsors, and a concert dedicated to mothers.
