For the last three years, the Directorate General of Cinema (DGCINE for its acronym in Spanish), has occupied an important place at the world’s top international market for film content.

The Marché du Film, which takes place side by side with the Cannes Film Festival, is where film producers and investors from around the world meet with the film industry since 1960.

DGCINE, has a clear mission to market the Dominican Republic as a film destination, which is the reason why its Director General, Yvette Marichal, created this year’s slogan “Let us tell you how easy it is to film in paradise”. Through a steady number of meetings, activities and exhibitions, all market members and attendees are being shown the advantages that the country has to offer the industry; an island located in a geographically strategic position to come from all parts of the world; the various locations the country has; technical staff prepared for any challenge and position; its impressive film studios and the incentives that the Film Law offers to foreign investments, among others.

In addition, last February, the Directorate General of Cinema issued an invitation to all Dominican producers registered at the SIRECINE, who had at least one project either in the pipeline or already completed, to conduct their business at the Dominican Pavilion meetings at the Marché du Film in Cannes, with a view to opening new markets and finding co-producers for their projects.
