Antonio Martorell’s Creativity and Facets at the MAM As part of the “Imalabra” exhibit sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Museum of Modern Art, Puerto Rican artist Antonio Martorell will present on Friday, June 19, at 7:00 pm, the performance “Veveviejo” and at 8:30 pm the documentary “Martorell y Homar en la Habana” (Martorell and Homar in Havana). On Saturday, June 20, at 11:00 am, he will lead a “guided tour” at the MAM. On Friday, at 7:00 pm, Antonio Martorell, together with Rosa Luisa Márquez and puppeteer Deborah Hunt, will stage the performance “Veveviejo”, which revolves around two segments of existence: being a baby and old age. Subsequently, in the auditorium of the MAM, audiences will enjoy the documentary created by Miguel Villafañe, which illustrates the event celebrating the centenary of the birth of Puerto Rican artist Lorenzo Homar, Antonio Martorell’s teacher. At the same time, the film details the process of staging Imalabra, Antonio Martorell’s retrospective in Havana, and his ongoing dialogue with the Teacher. On Saturday, June 20, at 11:00 am, there will be a tour of Imalabra, which is on exhibition on the second floor of the Museum of Modern Art, during which the artist will speak about his impressions, experiences, the process of creating and staging the exhibit, as well as its touring. The Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
