The Winners of the Competition of Short Films Made By Women Are Announced The Asociación de Mujeres de Cine (AMUCINE) selected the winners of the “Amucine Short Film Competition”, a competition of short films made by women. The winners were: First place “La Hora”, by Gilse Echevarría; Second place “The Bontire”, by Ruth A. García Fuentes, and the Third place went to “Chino Dominicano”, by Susibel Espaillat. The Asociación de Mujeres de Cine (AMUCINE) selected the winners of the “Amucine Short Film Competition”, a competition of short films made by women. The winners were: First place “La Hora”, by Gilse Echevarría; Second place “The Bontire”, by Ruth A. García Fuentes, and the Third place went to “Chino Dominicano”, by Susibel Espaillat. The members of the jury were: Liliana Abauza Chahín, President and representative of the Bogotá International Film Festival; Cinema Professor Omar Narpier; the Director of Revista Cineasta, Pablo Mustone; Elsa Turull; Actor Jonier Mercedes; Virginia Sánchez Navarro; Sarah Pérez and Claudette Lalí. For this third edition of the competition, 7 short films of the 11 that were submitted were evaluated, and 18 international films were selected of the 850 that were received. Of the international participants, 3 are Dominicans residing in foreign countries, including Laura Guzmán and Katherine Castro. This edition of the competition took place at the Arts de Novo Centro, where the following women who contribute to the growth of the industry were recognized: Flora Cruz Carretero, Director of the Cinematheque; Carmen Brugal, Pachy Méndez, Aleja Flores and Evelina Rodríguez. Julissa Rumaldo, President of AMUCINE, thanked the sponsors for the support they provided to the competition.
