Eurowings Flies, for the First Time, to the International Airport of La Romana The Eurowings airline flew, for the first time, from Cologne, Germany, to the International Airport of La Romana-Casa de Campo on Tuesday November 17, according to a press release. After landing at 11:30 pm and being christened with the traditional “water salute”, the Airbus A330-200, under the command of Captain UweLeyh, its 11 crew members and 235 passengers, were welcomed by airport authorities and a variety of service providers. Eurowings, one of the airlines that make up the Lufthansa Group, had up to now operated short- and medium-haul flights in Europe, but in 2015 it has taken a step forward with the operation of long-haul flights. The La Romana Airport is the second to be selected by the German airline in the Dominican Republic during its expansion phase to other destinations. With its 2 biweekly flights, Eurowings joins other airlines that connect the airport of La Romana with several German cities, bringing hundreds of tourists every week to enjoy the hotel facilities of La Romana-Bayahíbe, and a wide range of complementary services at the destination, such as golf, especially at the famous Casa de Campo golf resort, as well as marine and diving excursions, and, mainly, the Dominican hospitality.
