Madrid will be the Main Venue for Grito de Mujer 2016 The Women Poets International (MPI) Inc. Movement, home of the renowned Woman Scream International Poetry Festival since 2011, based in the Dominican Republic, reported that Madrid, Spain, will be the next official venue for the opening of the festival. As part of the opening ceremony, a series of events will be held on March 4 – 6, 2016 in the premises of the Buenavista Cultural Center in that city. The opening ceremony of the 6th Woman Scream-Madrid will include exhibitions, concerts, theater, music, dance, and the presentation of a collective anthology with the participating poets. The festival events will be free and open to the general public. The main event of that weekend will be the 1st International Get Together of the MPI Movement, scheduled for March 5 at the Rafaelhoteles Ventas 4*, starting at 9:00 pm, where, for the first time, the members, friends and supporters of Woman Scream and MPI will enjoy a gala dinner, a recognition to outstanding employees, and a space to share ideas. Tickets are available for the price of a contribution through the MPI’s and the festival’s web pages. Woman Scream, and its simultaneous chain of global events to honor women and against violence, will be held throughout the month of March 2016 in some 40 countries under the slogan “Desert Flowers”, a tribute to Iranian Soraya Manutchehri and to all women that have been victims of absurd ancient practices such as ablation, stoning, and attacks with acid, among other practices that still keep women of the 21st century in the dark ages. The Women Poets International Movement invites all its supporters to join in and to massively support all the activities of the Woman Scream festival, either from their respective cities or by directly participating in the Madrid events.
