ASHONORTE Will Hold the Third Edition of the Puerto Plata Golf Classice

The Asociación de Hoteles, Restaurantes y Empresas Turísticas de la Zona Norte (ASHONORTE) will hold the third edition of the Puerto Plata Golf Classic tournament, which will take place at the Playa Dorada golf course in Puerto Plata, on Saturday, November 28, under the official sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition, which took place at the Cervantes Institute in Madrid, Spain, was chaired by Víctor García de la Concha, Director of the Institute, accompanied by Fernando Fernández, Director General of Customs; Aníbal de Castro, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Spain; Cayo Claudio Espinal, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture (MINC) and representative of the DGA’s Cultural Heritage Foundation.

After organizing two previous successful editions, the Puerto Plata Golf Classic has quickly become one of the favorite tournaments for local golfers, and has also been very well received among foreign players who enjoy a healthy and fun experience in the golf course that was designed by renowned Robert Trent Jones.

The organizers said that the event aims to promote Puerto Plata as a golf destination, while raising funds for the “Sonríe! Eres Puerto Plata” tourism awareness program that is managed by the association to raise community awareness about the importance of tourism and the role that citizens should play for its sustainability over time.

The tournament’s mode of operation will be Scramble in Pairs, with four award categories: A) 0-14 handicap, B) 15-24 handicap, C) Seniors 60 and older, and D) Ladies. Registration will be open until Saturday, November 14, and the cost is RD$5,000 per person, including green fees, golf cart, lunch, polo shirt, cap and raffles.
