December 18 will mark the end of the sixth season of the only space in the city that has presented live Jazz without interruption: there have been 291 concerts during these past 6 years; and, at the same time, it has met the demand for a Good Living environment in an establishment that provides total comfort, quality and service, ample parking and security and, most importantly, personalized attention, ALWAYS!!! Every week, a large audience gathers in the cozy and exquisitely appointed lounge to enjoy the concerts presented by a selection of the best Jazz groups of our country and international guests. During the past six years, the public has enjoyed delightful moments of instrumental and vocal Jazz, through performances by more than 200 musicians and vocalists from the world around us, in addition to artists from Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica, Curacao Aruba, Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Holland, Denmark, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Canada and the United States as guests, including several winners and nominees to the American and Latin Grammys. During these performances, the public has been able to enjoy original programming made of a variety of high-level musical offerings, as well as the debut of 19 groups and some twenty thematic concerts. The regular public bears witness to the commitment of the Fiesta Sunset Jazz to advertising and promoting Jazz in the Dominican Republic, as well as being an important means for channeling support for culture in the country. Friday, December 18: Javier Vargas Ensembles – Christmas Concert The Javier Vargas Ensembles at the Fiesta Sunset Jazz is already a reality, much anticipated by the public and the musicians, who are waiting for the Ensembles to climb the stage at La Azotea!!! – The project, arising from the agreement between the Sunset Jazz Festival and beloved musician and teacher Javier Vargas, supports the National Conservatory of Music (CNM for its acronym in Spanish) by presenting, each month, an Ensemble under the direction of the group’s teacher and Javielo’s supervision. This project offers the opportunity to new musical talents studying at the CNM to perform in a real world situation. During the last Friday of 2015, a special selection of musicians will present Christmas music with Jazz rhythm. They are: Daroll Méndez (bass); Samuel Atizol (piano); Ronald Feliz (saxophone); Laura Bonifacio (vocals) and Javier Vargas (guitar & lead). Bear witness to the future of our Jazz now.
