Culture Will Open Exhibition “Ad Mojarem Dei Gloriam” The Ministry of Culture, through the General Directorate of Fine Arts and the National Gallery of Fine Arts, will open the exhibition “Ad Dei Mojarem Gloriam” (to the greater glory of God), on Thursday, January 14, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of “El Cristo de la Sombra,” the first oil painting of painter Geo Ripley. The event will be held at 7:30 pm in the Rotando hall of the Palace of Fine Arts. “Ad Mojarem Dei Gloriam” is a retrospective collection of pieces created starting in1966, when Ripley first used his brush to create his splendid work of art, which he called “El Cristo de la Sombra.” This exhibition contains 28 pieces made of acrylic, color floating collage, and sculptures, among which the following may be mentioned: “El Cristo de la Sombra,” “Virgen de Vladimir,” and “Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, patrona de Cuba,” among others. Geo Repley is a master of the plastic arts who began to dabble in this profession at the age of 17, when he created his first oil painting with his brush in 1966.
