A Film on Duarte Will Be Screened at the Dominican Commissioner of Culture The Instituto Duartiano of New York will screen the film “Duarte, traición y gloria,” by filmmaker Leo Silverio, on Saturday, January 30, at the Dominican Commissioner of Culture in the United States, a unit of the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic. The film will be screened at 7 pm in the Rafael Villalona Theatre of the Commissioner of Culture, located at 541 West 145th Street, 2nd. Floor, near the corner of Broadway, in Manhattan, New York. “Duarte, traición y gloria” tells the story of Juan Pablo Duarte, Founding Father of the Dominican Republic, and it is played by Josué Guerrero (young Duarte) and Iván García Guerra (Duarte as an adult). Leo Silverio is the director and co-screenwriter, and Andrés Quezada is the general producer. The screening of the film is part of the program of events that the Instituto Duartiano, in collaboration with the Dominican Commissioner of Culture in the United States, is organizing to mark the Month of the Dominican Republic’s homeland celebration. The Dominican Commissioner of Culture, Carlos Sánchez, has invited the general public to participate in the celebration of the month of the Dominican homeland, and to support the Instituto Duartiano in its efforts to disseminate Duarte’s ideals.
