Making Dominicans Proud: GFDD/Funglode’s ALL THINGS DOMINICAN/LO DOMINICANO book launch in Santo Domingo Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and its sister institution Funglode will launch their newest publication, ALL THINGS DOMINICAN/LO DOMINICANO, February 18th at Librería Cuesta in Santo Domingo. All Things Dominican is a bilingual (Spanish and English) publication that offers a quick and fresh take on the main features of Dominicanness, and the country’s cultural and natural endowments, all from a modern and innovative perspective that’s easy to understand, with an emphasis on intriguing and little-known details. The book is designed to present the main aspects of what it means to be Dominican as well as the natural resources and the culture of the country, from a modern and innovative point of view, in an easy to read manner, with emphasis on interesting and not widely-known facts. The book will be presented by GFDD’s International Affairs and Socio-Economic Development Program Manager Maria Victoria Abreu and the commentary on the publication will be done by Delia Blanco. Delia Blanco, who has stated in previous occasions that “in an anthropological way, the book elevates popular and traditional aspects, and raises them to the level of noble subjects, because Dominican nature is above all a feeling”, is not only a Doctor in Literature and Anthropology, but also a researcher on dominicanness in its comparative aspects of cultural diversity. The event is free and open to the general public and guests will be able to enjoy a toast and refreshments at the end of the evening. The launch will take place on February 18th at Libreria Cuesta, Ave. 27 de Febrero, Esquina Abraham Lincoln, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic at 6.30pm.
