This one-man show is meant to promote Amiama’s art prior to the Korea International Art Fair, KIAF 2008, the largest of its kind in Korea. The art fair will take place next October. Enriquillo recently made a series of paintings inspired by his favorite artist, Jasper Johns, one of the most influential American painters alive. Johns recently wrote an article praising Enriquillo Amiama’s work. In appreciation, Enriquillo made a series of paintings explicitly inspired by his favorite Jasper Johns’ paintings and then incorporated his own characteristic themes (fruit, flowers, landscapes, female figures) into an original work that has earned him praise from the critics and widespread approval from an international audience.
