Organizers Hoping to Double Book Fair Attendance With the hope of doubling last year’s Book Fair attendance, which exceeded 140,000 people per day, the 11th International Book Fair of Santo Domingo 2008 opened on Monday. This year’s Fair is dedicated to historian Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi, the most widely published Dominican writer. The 476 publishers, set up in their book stalls along the paths and green areas of Culture Plaza, are prepared to receive visitors of all ages and backgrounds. According to Book Fair Director, Alejandro Arvelo, this year’s Fair is sure to exceed those of years’ past, not only in attendance but in the quality of the event as well as the ample promotion of culture and participation of the literary sector. The 476 publishers, set up in their book stalls along the paths and green areas of Culture Plaza, are prepared to receive visitors of all ages and backgrounds. To facilitate Fair visitors, the Board of Directors of the Book Fair proposed to the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services to provide transportation for people from the Olympic Center, the Conservatory Plaza and the park in front of the Popular Tower on Máximo Gómez Avenue. | ||
