ADOEXPO to Carry out Training Projects The Association of Dominican Exporters (ADOEXPO) signed two agreements with the National Competitiveness Council (CNC) and the Apec University (UNAPEC) to carry out a teaching/training project in companies affiliated with the ADOEXPO. They will also promote initiatives, projects and plans of action that generate logistics training. …the CNC served as a facilitator to reach this agreement between academia and the private sector, taking into account that this type of synergy is essential to reach wider competitive horizons in the country. The agreement was signed on Wednesday June 25 at the CNC headquarters by Ricardo Koenig, ADOEXPO president; Andrés Vanderhorst Álvarez, Executive Director of the CNC and Justo Pedro Castellanos, Rector of UNAPEC. In the agreement, the CNC served as a facilitator to reach this agreement between academia and the private sector, taking into account that this type of synergy is essential to reach wider competitive horizons in the country. As such, the CNC is committed to supporting initiatives, projects and plans of action to generate training and promoting projects in such areas as the public transport sector with the idea of facilitating exports and supporting the creation of a pilot program to develop synergy between companies and the competitive sectors such as the development of competitive intelligence. To that end, ADOEXPO and UNAPEC are committed to identify, validate, support and implement the necessary actions to supply Dominican businesses with the technical capacity to successfully export in the global market. Mr. Koenig said the Dominican Republic has the tools to be a logistical regional center and to compete on the basis of its efficiency. He noted that the first step to achieve this objective is to create the required synergies with the idea of generating the necessary technical support to improve our export offers. He estimated that inter-institutional cooperation constitutes one of the most efficient mechanisms to promote coherent and integral transformations required by our society. Meanwhile, CNC Executive Director Andrés van der Horst Álvarez, explained that the CNC is committed to working for the consolidation of a favorable business climate for export companies. “One of the saving graces our country has in the face of rising fuel prices is our export market; selling to the outside world generates wealth and hard currency that will help us face these international adversities with greater facility. For that reason, this synergy between academia, business and government bodes well for us to improve and increase our exports,” said van der Horst Álvarez. UNAPEC is an institution that was created with the goal of contributing to training people in the area of business in order to fulfill the requirements demanded by the market. UNAPEC, currently involved in an ingenious project with business incubators, offers Masters courses and degrees in the area of business which require trainers and teachers in national companies linked to external commerce. The objective of both entities is to promote the capacity for training, the conservation and conquest of the international markets of the Dominican export sector as well as provide the necessary technical assistance to its members in order to increase their exporting capacity.
