“Teatro Chiquito” 2018 Announces the Opening of its 11th Season

Santo Domingo, June 14, 2018 – The Teatro Guloya announces the celebration of the eleventh season of its “Teatro Chiquito” 2018.  The well-known theater company invites the general public, and most especially families, to enjoy this year’s season, which will be held from June 9 through July 29.  All presentations will take place at the “Teatro Guloya’s” Otto Coro Auditorium, Saturdays and Sundays at 5:30 p.m.

Families will enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of art and culture at the Teatro Guloya.  This year the “Teatro Chiquito” will present seven special plays that will feature various themes, techniques and artists.

The opening of the 11th season will feature the play Se Busca Pastor (non-official translation: Looking for a Shepherd).  The play will open the Young Adults Workshop on June 9-10.  The following weekend, June 16-17, the theatre troupe will present La Plaza de la Felicidad (non-official translation: The Happy Plaza), featuring the Grupo Sie7e, directed by Paula Disla.  The Café Opera Group La 37 will present a special program with clowns and arias, titled Código Clown, on June 23-24.

Los sueños de Lorca, a puppet show produced by Ernesto López, will be presented June 31-July 1. Hay alguien ahí? (non-official translation: Is There Someone There?), by storyteller Tomas Rubio, will go on scene on July 7 and 8.  El emperador de la esquina (non-official translation: The Corner Emperor), by the Tesence Circo Teatro group. The season will close with a special puppet show titled El macuto mágico, (non-official translation: The Magic Bag), which will be put on scene for the first time by the “Teatro Guloya” on July 21, 22, 28 and 29.

The Teatro Guloya is situated in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone, on Arzobispo Portes Street.  Entrance is RD$300.
