Santo Domingo, March 14, 2018 – The southwest Province of Peravia has been invited to participate in the Tourism and Productive Cluster of the city of Barahona, also situated in the southwest region. This Second Annual Tourism and Production Fair, titled “Discover Barahona: Working Toward a Sustainable Development,” will take place March 16-18 at the University of Barahona (UCATEBA).
Peravia Province was chosen as part of the regional integration process currently underway, which hopes to create a great tourism corridor that will begin in the city of San Cristobal – situated southwest of Santo Domingo – and will conclude in the border-region province of Pedernales. The corridor will allow visitors to experience the country’s only regional multi-destination route.
“Beginning last year Barahona’s Tourism and Production Cluster has been working with the National Competitive Council on a research project that will serve as the basis for the development of the Southwest Tourism Corridor,” explained Elena Nunziatini, the organization’s executive director.
The provincial delegation is made up by the president of Bani’s Tourism Cluster, Juan Tejeda Santana; the mayor of the province, Nelson Camilo Landestoy, the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Peravia Province and the Ministry of Tourism office in the region.
During the fair the country’s Mango Cluster will feature the successful process it has introduced to bring together the community and mango producers from the region, and its impact on the economic growth of the entire province.
