New York, December 4, 2019 – Distinguished Dominican poet Lucila Rutinel will present a special event titled “A Recital for the Homeland,” to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The recital will be held at the Andrés Francisco Requena Hall at the Dominican Ministry of Culture’s Commission Office in New York. The event is scheduled for Sunday, December 15, at 3:00 p.m.
The Office of the Commission is situated at 541 West 145th Street, almost corner of Broadway, First Floor.
Cultural Commissioner Carlos Sánchez invited the general public to attend Lucila Rutinel’s recital. Her goal, stated Commission Sánchez, is to “create awareness on the need to eliminate violence against women.”

Lucila Rutinel is an educator, journalist and cultural activist. She is a distinguished poet that also recites poetry. She studied education and literature in the Dominican Republic and abroad. Through the Commission she has published, among others, the book of poems titled Mujer de lluvia con sonrisa de relámpagos (not available in English).
