Economic Dining HallsWill Provide Meals to Personnel and Volunteers Providing Service During Holy Week 2011 Events Under the orders and direction of Dominican President Doctor Leonel Fernández, the State-run Economic Dining Halls will offer food service to the thousands of volunteers and personnel who are giving their time to the vacationers who will be traveling around the country during Holy Week 2011. These units will be dispensing free hot meals starting on Thursday April 21 through Sunday the 24th Nicolás Calderón, administrator of the dining halls, explained that the Mobile Food Program (PAM in Spanish) will have three Mobile Kitchen units available and fully equipped with necessary personnel at various points around the National District. These units will be dispensing free hot meals starting on Thursday April 21 through Sunday the 24th. Mr. Calderón said that the Head of State is providing the necessary resources for the dining halls to carry out their social assistance program of giving food to the thousands of volunteers working with the Red Cross, the Fire Department, the Civil Defense, members of the Armed Forces and National Police as well as medical personnel who will be offering their services at the country´s rivers, beaches and swimming areas during the busy period of Holy Week. Calderón said the mobile units will be located in the following areas: along the Duarte Highway pedestrian areas for those who are heading in the direction of Cibao and the Northern Region; in Las Americas for those heading toward the Eastern zone and along the Seis de Noviembre for those traveling toward the Southern areas of the country. Likewise, he added that the dining halls will be offering a varied and delicious menu through its food producing centers which are disseminated in the cities and provinces to all personnel of the Emergency Operations Center (COE in Spanish) who will be lending service from Thursday through Easter Sunday as a guarantee that the men and women who serve the needs of the country will not be forgotten as they help the rest of the Dominican population enjoy their Holy Week vacations.
