Informational Sessions on the Portal Dominicanaonline.org are Currently Taking Place During the XV International Book Fair in Santo Domingo

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) is presently participating in the XV International Book Fair in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, which commenced on April 18 and will continue until May 6.

Dominicanaonline.org, created in 2005, is an on-going project that responds to the interests and informational needs of Dominicans in the Dominican Republic and abroad, and seeks to positively contribute to the international visibility of the nation.

GFDD is promoting its initiative Dominicaonline.org. Ten to fifteen minute-long Informational Sessions on the Online Portal on the Dominican Republic will be presented six times a day at the FUNGLODE Booth. The Informational Sessions will present the site’s diverse thematic areas and services.

Dominicanaonline.org, created in 2005, is an on-going project that responds to the interests and informational needs of Dominicans in the Dominican Republic and abroad, and seeks to positively contribute to the international visibility of the nation. It constitutes the first initiative to compile accurate and relevant information from and about the Dominican Republic in a single site.

The detailed, comprehensive and interactive website contains relevant written and audiovisual material related to the geography, history, economy, education, culture and ecology of the Dominican Republic. The Portal includes articles on topics as diverse as: immigration, the Dominican system of governance, environmental law, music, art, dance and sports.
The Portal is a constantly evolving project.

New portal sections are created in response to national interests and matters of concern. Themes currently featured on the site include: Carnival, Baseball, Children International Dominican Republic and Climate Change.

Dominicanaonline.org provides national and international users with relevant information concerning citizen services, accurate and up-to-date news stories, statistical data, interactive maps, directories and schedules of cultural activities. Moreover, the Portal provides users access to contests, discussion forums, chat rooms, blogs, e-cards, downloadable calendars and music videos of Dominican artists.

The XV International Book Fair is located at the Plaza de Cultura in Santo Domingo, and is open to visitors between the hours of 8:00 am — 10:00 pm.
